El día de la bestia is a film from 1995. It is the third film produced by Álex de la Iglesia after “ Mirindas asesinas ” and “ Aktion Mutante ” . The horror thriller won several Goyas in 1996 , along with a few other awards .
action
The Basque priest Angel notes the timing of the arrival of the Antichrist after long Bible study. At Christmas time he goes to Madrid to come into contact with the Antichrist by committing many sins. There he met Jose Maria, a death metal fan who worked in the music store, and found a place in his mother's pension. Together they are looking for Dr. Cavan, the host of an occult television show. Together they go hunting in Christmas Madrid to prevent the rebirth of the Antichrist.
Prizes and awards
El día de la bestia won a total of six Goyas in 1996, among others in the categories “Best Director”, “Best Young Actor”, “Best Sound” and “Best Special Effects”. The film also won the main prizes at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival 1996 and the Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya 1995.
