Puccinia kwanhsienensis is a stand fungal art from the order of the rust fungi (Pucciniales). The fungus is an endoparasite of the Bambusa species. Symptoms of the infestation by the species are rust spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces of the host plants. She is endemic to China .
features
Macroscopic features
Puccinia kwanhsienensis can only be recognized with the naked eye by means of the spore beds emerging on the surface of the host. They grow in nests that appear as yellowish to brown spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces.
Microscopic features
The mycelium of Puccinia kwanhsienensis grows as with all Puccinia TYPES intercellular and forms Saugfäden that grow into the storage tissue of the host. Aecia or spermogonia of the species are not known, the same applies to the uredia . Their yellow - brown uredospores are spherical, 18–20 × 18–20 µm in size and finely spiky. The branches growing on both sides are black-brown, uncovered early and compact. The hazelnut brown teliospores are two-celled, usually ellipsoidal to long-ellipsoidal and 37–57 × 15–23 µm in size; their stalk is brownish and about as long as the spores.
distribution
The known distribution area of Puccinia kwanhsienensis only includes the Chinese Kwanhsien in Sichuan .
ecology
The host plants of Puccinia kwanhsienensis are different Bambusa species. The fungus feeds on the nutrients present in the storage tissue of the plants, its spore beds later break through the leaf surface and release spores. The species has a development cycle of which only Telien and their host are known; Uredien, Spermogonia and Aecien could not be assigned to the fungus.
