The Pujada Bay Protected Seascape was proclaimed on July 31, 1994 under Presidential Declaration 431 . It is located in the Davao Oriental Province in the southeast of Mindanao Island in the Philippines , about 165 km east of Davao City . The Pujada Bay Protected Seascape covers an area of 21,200 hectares and extends along the coastline of Pujada Bay.
The coastal area in the north and west of Pujada Bay is described as hilly to mountainous, the eastern part is flat, with the exception of the southern part of the Guang-Guang peninsula, which is described as undulating to hilly. The area around Pujada Bay belongs to climate type IV and has no pronounced dry or rainy periods. The area is outside the Pacific Typhoon Belt .
Many streams flowing down from the mountains flow into the bay, the largest of which are the Catmonan, Dawan, Dilaon, Mati, Matiao and Guang-Guang brooks.
A total of 25 types of corals were found in the waters belonging to the nature reserve . Of the 16 species of seaweed found in the Philippines , 9 species were found in Pujada Bay alone. The reserve has large stands of mangrove forests that stretch over 850 hectares of the coastline.
