Punch Powertrain is a Belgian transmission manufacturer headquartered near Sint-Truiden . The company's main products are continuously variable transmissions (CVT) for hybrid and electric cars. In addition, Punch Powertrain has also developed a dual clutch transmission (DCT).
The company supplies most Chinese automakers from its Nanjing plant.
history
Punch Powertrain was founded in 1972 as DAF Produktie Sint-Truiden NV . The factory immediately became famous for the development of the Variomatic transmission. From 1975 to 1997 the factory belonged to Volvo and then to ZF Getriebe until 2005 . In 2006 the industrial holding company Punch International bought the company from Guido Dumarey in order to save it from closure. In 2016, Punch Powertrain was taken over by the Chinese Yinyi Group .
