Punta Abovedada (in Chile Punta Pairo and Punta Emma ) is a headland , the south-eastern end of Enterprise Iceland in Wilhelmina Bay off the Danco Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula forms.
Scientists from an Argentine Antarctic expedition (1973–1974) explored the headland and gave it its descriptive name, which translated from Spanish means "arched headland" and thus alludes to its shape. The namesake of the Chilean names is on the one hand Pedro Pairo, sailor on board the Yelcho in the rescue of the participants of the endurance expedition stranded on Elephant Island in 1916 (1914–1917), on the other hand the ship Emma , with which the expedition leader Ernest Shackleton previously did one had made an unsuccessful rescue attempt.
