Purnima Hembram (* 10. July 1993 in Baidapasi ) is an Indian athlete, referring to the heptathlon specializes.

Athletic career

Purnima Hembram played her first international competition at the Junior Asian Championships 2012 in Colombo , where she won the gold medal with 4979 points. In 2015 she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 5511 points behind the Uzbek Yekaterina Voronina and her compatriot Liksy Joseph . Two years later, she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with a new record of 5798 points . At the beginning of September 2017 she won the gold medal at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat and at the same time set a new Indian record with 4062 points in the pentathlon. At the beginning of April 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time, where she achieved seventh place with 5834 points. At the end of August she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and was fourth there with 5837 points.

At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , she came in fifth with 5528 points.

Hembram is an art student at Jamda College in Mayurbhanj .
