The University of Busan ( kor. 부산 대학교 , Busan Daehakgyo ; English Pusan ​​National University (PNU) ) is one of the leading universities in South Korea . It was founded in March 1946, three months before Seoul National University was founded , in Busan , the second largest city in South Korea. The original name of the university was Busan National University ( 국립 부산 대학교 ). Since it was founded, the university has been one of the best in South Korea. Especially among the universities of the provincial cities, it is considered to be a leader with the Kyungpook National University . The university is divided into colleges and postgraduate schools according to the Anglo-Saxon model. The main campus is in Busan, there are also two other campuses in Miryang and Yangsan .

Incidents

On February 18, 2014, ten people died at the semester celebration. The roof collapse occurred under heavy snow load in the auditorium of the Manua Ocean Resort in Gyeongju . At the time of the catastrophe, around 500 first-semester students were celebrating the start of their studies.
