features

The Pyrenean spoonbill is a hibernating green, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of up to 50 cm. The stem is bare. Their leaves are simple. The stalked basal leaves are kidney-shaped and 1.2 to 4.5 (rarely up to 8.0) cm wide. The fruit stalks, which are usually upright from the grape axis, are at most as long as the pod. Their fruit is an elliptical or egg-shaped, both sides pointed silicles . The stylus is usually 0.3 to 0.5 (0.2 to 0.6) mm long on ripe fruits. The seeds are usually 1.5 to 2.2 (1.3 to 2.6) mm long.

Occurrence

The Pyrenean spoonbill is widespread in the European mountains including the Pyrenees and is under nature protection. It grows in Central Europe on cool, soaked, calcareous, mild peat soils with tuff-forming mosses and is a character species of the Cochleario-Cratoneuretum from the Cratoneurion association. But it also occurs in contact with societies of the associations Agropyro-Rumicion or Caricion davallianae. The Pyrenean spoonwort is also native to Germany and is found mainly south of the Danube. The Pyrenean spoonbill can also be found in the headwaters of the Alme (Sauerland, near Brilon ).

The species is considered endangered according to the Red List (level 3). The relic species, which is highly sensitive to changes in growth location, is threatened above all by drainage and reforestation with spruce trees.
