Benstorf is a district of the Salzhemmendorf patch in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony .

The place is northeast of the core town of Salzhemmendorf on the B 1 . It is grouped around the church and the historic Thie-Linde. The village community center can also be found here , which has been renovated in a special way by volunteers. The Quanthof area also belongs to the area of ​​this district. In between, the Rasti-Land theme park has been created over the past 30 years . With more and more new attractions, it has become a popular excursion destination in a large area.

The place is first mentioned in 1022 in the Saalechronik. On December 6, 1241 the parish church “St. Johannes "mentioned in a document, in 1588 the school is noted in a document.

In 1635 Benstorf was merged with the Lauenstein Office, after the place had belonged to the Poppenburg Office since 1389. Seven years later the parish was connected to Oldendorf as the " mater combinata ". In 1724 a new church was built. The half-timbered houses, which today form the closed town center, were also rebuilt around 1800. The church was rebuilt in 1818, and a new organ was bought in 1855. In the same year , a coal mine was driven into the Osterwald in today's Glückauf district , two kilometers east of Benstorf. Around a hundred years later, in 1957, the church was completely renovated and repainted. In 1960 a new cemetery with a chapel was laid out.

In 1964, 25 men and women founded the tennis club at Gasthof Hampe. In 1976 the well-known leisure area "Rasti-Land" was created on the site of an exploited gravel pit. Five years later, in 1981, the barbecue area with a hut and an artificial pond was created.
