Radloh is a district of the Steinhorst community in the Gifhorn district of Lower Saxony in the southern part of the Lüneburg Heath .

Radloh is located in the northern part of the Steinhorst community, three kilometers north of the core town of Steinhorst.

East and south of Räderloh lies the 1090 hectare large nature reserve Upper Laughed Kainbach, Jafelbach .

history

Around 1585 Henricus de Harlingebarge from the Diocese of Verden was entrusted with the tithing of Ruderlo ( räderloh ) in the office of Isenhagen .

In 1770 a school was already mentioned inräderloh, in 1777 five full courtyards and one half courtyard.

In 1915, a barrack camp for around 1,000 prisoners of war was built near Fahrradloh , who were supposed to drain the bog and turn it into grassland . From 1915 to January 1919 prisoners from Belgium , France , Great Britain , Italy and Russia were interned. Today there are eleven graves and a small memorial reminds of the former camp.

In 1925 the rifle club Lüsche -räderloh eV was founded and the first shooting range was set up in the neighboring village of Lüsche . In 1965 the school was closed and in 1967 the distillery cooperative Radloh eG was founded .

On January 1, 1972 or March 1, 1974, Radloh was incorporated into the Steinhorst community together with the neighboring community to the east of Lüsche.

The former municipality had an area of ​​15.64 km².

Companies

The only restaurant is the Landhausräderloh , which was formerly called Zur Linde . The Pension Eichenhof offers other overnight accommodations . Both companies have been family-owned for generations. The post office was closed, and there are no shops for daily needs in Radloh.

Sports

The state training center for carriage drivers of the Hanover-Bremen rider association is located inräderloh . There is a swimming opportunity north of the village. The club life takes place in the Schützenverein Lüsche -räderloh 1925 eV , the club's shooting club is located in the neighboring village of Lüsche, about two kilometers away.

Streets

The district road K 1 runs throughräderloh. Bus routes run fromräderloh to Hankensbüttel , Groß Oesingen and Steinhorst.
