Rémi Willemet
Rémi Willemet , also Pierre-Rémi Willemet (born September 13, 1735 in Norroy , † July 21, 1807 in Nancy ) was a French botanist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " Willemet "; earlier the abbreviation “ Willem. " in use. He is the father of Pierre Rémy François de Paule Willemet (1762–1790).
Live and act
For training, he went to his uncle, a Jesuit in Nancy , who ran a pharmacy there. He first learned the practical handling of the pharmacist's profession, but also studied natural history, botany and pharmacy. The Jesuit order Société de Jésus of Nancy wanted to accept him into its ranks.
He was admitted to the Nancy College of Pharmacy, collège de pharmacie de Nancy , in 1762 . In 1766, the college in Nancy awarded him the title of demonstrator in chemistry and botany, demonstrateur de chimie et de botanique . Later Willemet was appointed professor of natural history and director of the Botanical Garden in Nancy. In 1789 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
Honors
After him, the plant genus is Willemetia Neck. named from the sunflower family (Asteraceae).
