The Ria of Vigo (Spanish: Ría de Vigo ) is named after the Galician port and industrial city of Vigo and is located in the south of the province of Pontevedra in northwestern Spain . This bay, which extends deep into the land, is the southernmost of the Rias Baixas .

location

The Ria de Vigo extends over a length of 35 kilometers from the mouth at Cabo Silleiro to Santiago de Arcade (near Soutomaior ), with a maximum width of seven kilometers in the estuary. In front of the western entrance are the uninhabited Illas Cíes , part of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands . In the north the peninsula of Morrazo forms its border, in the south lies the eponymous city of Vigo.

Because of the easy access with great depth and calm waters, the Bay of Vigo is an ideal retreat for sailing and water sports.
