Redondela is a city in the southwest of the province of Pontevedra in the Spanish autonomous community of Galicia . The municipality covers an area of ​​52 km² and had 29,218 inhabitants on January 1, 2019.

The western border of the Redondela municipality is the Atlantic Ocean . Redondela borders on the municipality of Vigo to the south, the districts of Mos and Pazos de Borben to the east and the municipality of Soutomaior to the north .

The geography of the district is characterized on the one hand by mountain peaks up to almost 500 meters in height (in the southwest of the municipality) and on the other hand by the coastline, which is partly sandy and partly rocky. In addition, the district is traversed by a topographical depression in a north-south direction. Along this valley, Redondela is characterized by a strongly hilly landscape. The average height of the municipality is 17 m above sea level.

The river system of the municipality of Redondela consists of several small rivers (including Fondón and Cabeiro) and some larger rivers (Maceiras and Alvedosa).
