Catoira is a city in the Spanish province of Pontevedra in the Galicia region . The city lies on the river Ulla and is divided into four so-called parroquias . Catoira has 3335 inhabitants (January 1, 2019).

Catoira is of national importance because of its annual Viking festival, the Romería Vikinga , which is celebrated on the first Sunday in August. A historical event is re-enacted when Vikings tried to cross rivers inland and plunder the legendary treasure of Santiago de Compostela - and were repulsed by the locals.
