Sanxenxo

Sanxenxo (official name in Galician language , Spanish Sangenjo ) is a Spanish municipality in the comarca of O Salnés in the province of Pontevedra in the Galicia region .

etymology

San Xenxo means San Ginés (Saint Genesius) in Galician . San Ginés and Santa Rosalía are the patron saints of the city; the associated holidays are August 25th and September 4th. According to the Ley de Normalización Lingüística , the Galician Sanxenxo is the only official name of the municipality. The Castilian name “Sangenjo” is therefore a translation error; correctly it should be called “San Ginés”.
