The Röbbeck is a geographically right-hand tributary of the Hesperbach in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

geography

The Röbbeck rises on the northern flank of the Velbert ridge and initially runs over 600 m in a very steep-walled Kerbtal valley to the north through dense beech forests and has numerous nameless tributaries there. Below the Kotten Buschkothen, the valley widens into a meadow landscape. Approx. The Pepes Beeke flows 1,000 m below the source and the Röbbeck runs parallel to Eintrachtstraße in a narrow floodplain to the west, where it flows into the Hesperbach in the Hefel .

etymology

The Röbbeck farm of the same name in the former Rottberg farming community was first mentioned in 1050 under the name Rotbeki, from rod = clearing.

Hydropower

The Röbbeck served to drive a seasonal mill until modern times. In 1828 the mill had 1 overshot water wheel and 2 grinding courses (rye / wheat). The inflow, fed only by mountain water, did not allow operation in summer.

Shortly before the estuary was the Hefelschmitt , a Reckhammer , which in 1804 was an armory operated by Wilhelm Huffmann.

nature

Along the Röbbeck there are many forests and meadows, which are identified largely as a conservation area, which also houses rare species such as kingfishers , dippers or snail happen.
