geography

The village is located about three kilometers east of Asch on a gravel terrace of the Lech directly on federal highway 17 .

history

Römerkessel is first mentioned in 1478 as Ramenkessel.

After the old inn was torn away by a flood of the Lech in 1573 , the successor building was erected further west near today's federal road 17.

Until the secularization of 1803, Römerkessel was part of the main team of Apfeldorf of the Rauhenlechsberg nursing court . The inn is mentioned in 1752 and can be found in the Rauhenlechsberg box office.

Attractions

In the village is the listed country inn Römerkessel, a hipped roof building from the second half of the 18th century.

The inns at the Römerkessel have served travelers on the Via Claudia as rest stops since the Middle Ages , including Martin Luther .
