Röthigen (Neukieritzsch)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Röthigen was a village west of Borna that fell victim to lignite mining through the Deutzen opencast mine (Kraft II) in 1957/58 . In 1934 the place was incorporated into Deutzen , with which the now recultivated town hall came to the municipality of Neukieritzsch in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ) in 2014 . Today the area around the Röthigen water tower in the south of Deutzen is reminiscent of the place.

location

Röthigen was in the Leipzig lowland bay between Neukieritzsch in the north, Regis-Breitingen in the south and Borna in the east. The place was located west of the Pleiße southwest of Alt-Deutzen. Neu-Deutzen is located in the north of Röthigen.

history

Water tower in Röthigen

The history of Röthigen goes back to 1378. The place was until 1856 under the jurisdiction of the manor Großhermsdorf in the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Borna . Since 1856 Röthigen belonged to the Borna court office and from 1875 to the Borna district administration .

In 1910, the Deutzen opencast mine north of the town was opened. On April 1, 1934, Röthigen was incorporated into Deutzen. In 1944/45 there was a flak position in Röthigen to protect the carbochemical industry in Böhlen . To replace the water tower in Blumroda that was destroyed by the Borna-West opencast mine in 1952/57, a new water tower was built in Röthigen in 1955. In contrast to the location demolished in 1957/58 by the Deutzen opencast mine, it was spared demolition. After Alt-Deutzen was demolished by the Borna-West opencast mine in 1966/67, the town of Neu-Deutzen was built north of the water tower on a charred area of the Deutzen opencast mine, which was closed until 1963.

The recultivated area of Röthigen is now directly adjacent to the south of Deutzen. The area around the Röthigen water tower is partially shown on maps as Röthigen. A restaurant takes up the name of the water tower. With the incorporation of Deutzen on July 1, 2014, the corridor from Röthigen also came to Neukieritzsch.
