Rüdiger Weis

Rüdiger Weis (born October 12, 1966 ) is a German computer scientist and cryptographer . He lives and works in Berlin-Wedding and is professor of computer science at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin .

Career

Rüdiger Weis studied at the University of Mannheim mathematics and received his doctorate there in computer science with a thesis on cryptography in distributed multimedia systems. From 2002 to 2005 he worked as a post-doc with Andrew S. Tanenbaum at the Free University of Amsterdam and then accepted a professorship for computer science with a focus on systems programming at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Berlin (today: Beuth University) .

He heads the cryptography working group Cryptolabs in Amsterdam . He has been an active member of the Chaos Computer Club for many years . He is also a founding member of the digital society association .

Since 1997, Weis has been a speaker at international conferences on data security for computers, smart cards and GSM such as IDMS 1998 in Oslo, CARDIS 1998 in Louvain-la-Neuve, USENIX Smartcard Conference 1999 in Illinois, ECMAST 1999 in Madrid, ICME 2000 in New York and Cardis2000 in Bristol. He published numerous articles in journals such as data protection and data security . He is a regular speaker at the Chaos Communication Congress and since 2010 at re: publica .
