R5 was an American rock / pop band founded in 2009, consisting of Rydel Mary Lynch (keyboard, vocals), Rocky Mark Lynch (guitar, vocals), Ross Shor Lynch (guitar, vocals), Riker Anthony Lynch (bass, Vocals) and Ellington Lee Ratliff (drums).

history

Rydel, Ross, Riker, Rocky and Ryland are siblings, the five of them did performances in their early résumés, they sang, danced and much more. In 2007, the Littleton family moved to the metropolis of Los Angeles , Colorado . There they met their friend and current drummer Ellington Ratliff in a dance school. Guitarist and singer Ross Lynch starred in Disney's Austin & Ally . He also starred in the Teen Beach Movie and the sequel Teen Beach 2 . Riker played the supporting role "Jeff" in the series Glee and together with Rocky once in the series The Wedding Band . On tour, R5 was accompanied by Ryland Lynch (the little brother of the Lynch siblings) as a DJ. Rydel and Ellington were in a relationship at times.

Their first EP was Ready Set Rock , which they released themselves in 2010. In the years to come, Say You'll Stay , Keep Away from This Girl , Baby it's You, and more came out. In 2012 R5 signed a record deal with Hollywood Records . In the same year they released their first big hit Loud . In 2013 it was announced that their first album Louder would be out on September 24, 2013. The Loud EP 1 and the Loud EP 2 (these two compose the album Louder ), the single Pass Me By (also in a Radio Disney version), Loud as a single version and in December the single (I Can 't) Forget About You . In 2014 the EP Heart Made Up on You was released . Their next album Sometime Last Night was released in 2015. The band released their fourth EP New Addictions in 2017 and the single Hurts Good in September of the same year .

At the beginning of March 2018, the band announced via Instagram and Twitter that they would be taking a break because Rydel, Riker and Ellington wanted to concentrate on new projects, Rocky and Ross announced a few days later that they would be bringing out new music under the name The Driver that same month Era .

Music genre

Musically, R5's rock-pop is reminiscent of comparable teen bands like The Vamps .
