Raard is a village in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân in the Dutch province of Friesland . It is located west of Dokkum and has 220 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).

history

Raard was built on a terp , some of which has already been removed. This is particularly evident on the north side of the terp. It is believed that people lived in Raard even before we counted the times.

There is also a 13th century church in Raard . It was built in the Romanesque style and is dedicated to John the Baptist .

On December 31, 2012, a 42-year-old woman raced her car in a large crowd, injuring 17 people. At the New Year's Eve party in the Frisian village, three of the 17 spectators also suffered serious injuries. According to the police, the driver was not drunk. Around one o'clock at night, around 40 people were standing around the campfire in the village center when the car sped into the crowd at a high speed of around 60 km / h.
