The event under the name "Strom Cup" in 1996 offered ratings for all age groups and in a wide variety of categories. In the following years the name of the event changed in 2003 to “Swisspower Cup” and in 2009 to “Racer Bikes Cup”. In the different years there were different numbers of races and different venues.

In 2003 new sprint races were introduced and from 2003 to 2008 the racing series was called the “Swisspower Cup”.

In 2009 the races took place in Schaan , Tesserete , Solothurn , Gränichen , Winterthur , Engelberg , Plaffeien and Muttenz .

The Racer Bikes Cup consists of a total of eight individual races in which positions are contested in several categories. In the competition sector, juniors, women, juniors, men (elite), amateurs and masters compete against each other in individual or team ratings. As a recreational athlete, it is possible to try your luck in the categories of fun women, fun men, fun masters and fun seniors and there are also various subdivisions among young people: soft, cross, rock, mega and hard are based on age, a distinction is also made between boys and girls. In addition, various charity trips are carried out.

The overall ranking is also calculated in different ways in the various categories: In the youth, the five best results from the first seven races are added to the final run. In the fun classes, the best four results count with the final run and the same system applies to the licensed drivers with the exception of one run in the season in which the Swiss championship takes place. This falls out of the evaluation.

In 2017 there were seven individual races under the new title sponsor as the “Proffix Swiss Bike Cup” in Rivera , Sölden (Austria), Solothurn , Gränichen , Andermatt , Basel and Lugano .

In 2018 the racing series will consist of eight events in Monte Tamaro , Schaan (Liechtenstein), Solothurn, Gränichen , Andermatt, Villars-sur-Ollon , Basel and Lugano.
