Rachel Gold (* 1978 in Tel Aviv , Israel ) is a fictional Austrian political cartoonist , graphic artist and cartoonist . In these fields she works both as a draftsman and as a copywriter. Rachel Gold is - with her own drawing style and her own "biography" - the pseudonym of the cartoonist Markus Szyszkowitz .

She works for the Tiroler Tageszeitung and the Wiener Zeitung , in which she publishes articles.

Biographical

According to her fictional biography, Rachel Gold grew up in Israel and has lived in Vienna , the city of her grandfather's birth, since 1999 . She has been a freelance artist since 2004. In October 2008 she began to draw political caricatures for the Wiener Zeitung , the Tiroler Tageszeitung followed in November and from August 2009 to March 2010 she also drew regularly for the Kleine Zeitung . At their first exhibition, together with Klaudia Wanner, in the Theater am Alsergrund on September 11, 2009, Jutta Pichler, director of the Krems Caricature Museum , gave the opening speech. Since February 2011, her cartoons have also been regularly published and syndicated on MSNBC 's “Daryl Cagle's Political Cartoonists Index” .

Political commitment

Gold is together with u. a. Michael Wittmann and Harald Havas founding member of “Comics gegen Rechts”, an initiative by Austrian comic artists, to “set a signal against the incidents of right-wing and right-wing extremist 'slip-ups' and manifestations of all kinds that have increased in recent times.”
