Radek Baborák

Radek Baborák (born March 11, 1976 in Pardubice , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech horn player .

Radek Baborák was born into a family of musicians and began playing horn with Karel Krenek at the age of eight . At the age of twelve he won the Concertino Praga radio competition. Three years later he won third prize at the Prague Spring .

From 1989 to 1994 Radek Baborák studied with Bedřich Tylšar .

Awards

He is the winner of numerous competitions, a selection of the most important:

  • UNESCO International Broadcasting Competition (1993)
  • Second prize in Geneva 1993 (the first prize was not awarded)
  • First prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (1994)
  • First prize at the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition (1994)
  • Grammy Classic Award in the Czech Republic (1995)
  • Davidoff Prize 2001
  • Mostly Classic Award 2002

As a soloist he performs with well-known orchestras in Germany and abroad - u. a. London Philharmonic Orchestra , Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra , Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , Munich Philharmonic , Bamberg Symphony , Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn , Bach Academy Stuttgart , German Symphony Orchestra Berlin , SWR Symphony Orchestra , Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg , Czech Philharmonic , St. Petersburg Philharmonic, National Orchestra de Lyon , Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra , NHK Symphony Orchestra a . a .; In addition to numerous television appearances, there are recitals at renowned festivals and in important cultural centers around the world.

Radek Baborák also won first prize in the wind quintet category with the Afflatus Quintet at the 1997 ARD competition in Munich.

At the age of eighteen he became principal horn in the Czech Philharmonic . Baborák was principal horn with the Munich Philharmonic from 1996 to 2000, principal horn with the Bamberg Symphony from 2000 to 2002 and guest lecturer at the Fondazione Arturo Toscanini from 1998 to 2000, succeeding Hermann Baumann . From 2002 to 2011 he was the principal horn player with the Berliner Philharmoniker .
