Radio Hitwelle was a local station from Erding . The music channel was based on the Adult Contemporary (AC) format .

history

Hitwelle was founded by Christian Brenner and initially went on air as part of an operational trial with a test license in February 1999 under the name “Hitwelle Isental” in the small town of Isen in the cable network with 800 connected households. On October 14, 1999, the test license was extended to December 31, 2000 by the Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM) as part of the cable pilot project . On February 8, 2001, Hitwelle received the license for the further cable distribution areas of Dorfen and Markt-Schwaben as part of a cable pilot project. The experiment was intended to provide information about whether it is possible to operate a cable program economically.

After the end of the cable pilot project, BLM came to the conclusion that it was economically viable and on February 7, 2002, Hitwelle had the FM frequency Erding 87.9 MHz with a range of 44,000 residents at the Erding location as part of a radio pilot project initially assigned for a period of 2 years and the trial license extended accordingly. At its meeting on October 9, 2003, the BLM Media Council decided to extend the pilot project for a further 2 years in order to test whether a radio program in the Erding region can develop economically and how this affects existing radio programs.

From March 1, 2002, Radio Hitwelle could also be received terrestrially via the VHF frequency 87.9 MHz in Erding. The broadcasting area at that time included the district of Erding ("Hitwelle Erding") and, since December 2005, the city of Freising , for which an independent regional program ("Hitwelle Freising") is produced. From 2007 the hit wave could also be received via the filling station Moosinning frequency 99.4 MHz, the range of which extends to the east of Munich. The transmitter network operation of the frequency 99.4 MHz at the Moosinning location with a transmission power of 500 watts is carried out by SmartCast GmbH, which was also founded by Christian Brenner and arose from the spin-off of Satelli-Line GmbH. Satelli-Line GmbH is the main shareholder of Hitwelle. In April 2009, the Ebersberg frequency 93.0 MHz distribution area was licensed by BLM. This frequency was originally dedicated to Radio Arabella in Munich, but was not used by Radio Arabella and has now been assigned to Hitwelle at the BLM media council meeting on April 3, 2009. As in Erding and Freising, local content from the Ebersberg region (localization of the program) was broadcast under the name “Hitwelle Ebersberg”. It was a sub-local distribution in which the Hitwelle Erding is used as a cover program. The range increased with the Ebersberg distribution area from 166,000 to 209,000 people. Since January 21, 2011, Rock Antenne has been broadcasting its radio program as a local branch of Antenne Bayern on the former frequencies of the Hitwelle. However, the station remains 50% owned by Christian Brenner.

The program of Radio Hitwelle had initially focus of his music in the genres Oldie-Based AC and current charts. According to its own information, however, the Rockantenne program consists of 100% rock music . The news offer includes local news and event information and is designed for the rural area of Erding and Freising.
