Raffael Tonello (born June 14, 1975 ) is a former Italian football player .
Player career
Tonello, who grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr and started playing club football at TuS Union 09 Mülheim at the age of eight , was discovered by talent scouts from the Fortuna Düsseldorf professional club and switched to Fortuna at the age of 16. After playing in the A-youth and with the club's amateurs, he was able to book his first professional appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1994/95 under coach Aleksandar Ristic . In his second outing on matchday 31 against SV Meppen , the striker also scored his first goal as a professional. At the end of the season, Düsseldorf rose to the top division. On the 11th matchday of the following season he played his first first division game , making it the first Italian in the Bundesliga .
Meniscus operations followed (1996) and then a 16-month rehab. After that it was clear that he was no longer suitable for high-performance sport. During the 1997/98 season he moved to the Regionalliga West / Südwest to Sportfreunde Siegen . Here he played until 2000. From the beginning of 2001 he played for KFC Uerdingen 05 in the Regionalliga Nord . After only six appearances there, he went to Kickers Offenbach in the Regionalliga Süd at the end of the season . There he played one season and then moved to the second team of Eintracht Frankfurt within the league . This was his last stop - on September 27, 2002 he ended his career as a sports invalid.
After the career
After the end of his career, Tonello completed an internship at Eintracht Frankfurt and at the same time completed a distance learning course to become a sports specialist .
Raffael Tonello has been Managing Director of Real Sport Entertainment since 2006. Among other things, he runs a soccer hall in Frankfurt-Preungesheim and plays for the traditional Fortuna Düsseldorf team .
