The district Roahser is pronounced in the local dialect, the Vierscher Platt .

In the past, mainly farmers lived in Rahser. With the advent of the textile industry around 1880/90, workers' apartments were built. In 1925 a purely working-class district was created in Oberrahser; Many employees of the Kaiser's Coffee Shop AG also moved there. The textile works Pongs & Zahn AG were located in the Rahser, until around 1960 the largest textile factory in Viersen; other companies were Diergardt ( Friedrich Freiherr von Diergardt , Viersen's largest business tax payer in 1839), Goeters and Beckers & Hüskes. In 1929 the new Catholic parish church of St. Notburga was consecrated by Bishop Josef Sträter. After the Second World War , a new residential area was built around the Notburga Church, which was initially mainly inhabited by refugees and late returnees . The Büssemfeld development area was an open field until around 1976 and was only gradually built on.
