Raido Ränkel (born January 13, 1990 in Rakvere , Estonian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Estonian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Career

Since 2007 Ränkel has mainly participated in FIS races and the Scandinavian Cup . His best results were two fifth places in the sprint and 15th place in the overall standings in the 2010/11 season. He ran his first World Cup race in January 2009 in Otepää , which he finished with 66th place in the sprint. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme was 49th place in the 50 km mass start race and 17th place in the team sprint. In February 2014 he was able to achieve his best individual World Cup result so far in Szklarska Poręba with 34th place in the 15 km mass start race. His best results at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were 51st place in the sprint and 10th place in the relay. His best results at the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun were 35th place in the 50 km mass start race and 14th place in the team sprint. In the 2015/16 season he finished 65th in the World Cup Mini Tour in Ruka and 50th in the 2016 Tour de Ski . At the Ski Tour Canada 2016, which he ended prematurely, he got his first World Cup points with 25th place in the sprint. In January 2016 he became the Estonian sprint champion in Mammaste . At the beginning of the 2016/17 season in Ruka he finished 28th in the sprint again in the points and finished 82nd in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer . In February 2017 he became Estonian champion in sprint and over 15 km classic. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 he achieved 46th place in the sprint, 34th place over 15 km classic and 14th place together with Marko Kilp in the team sprint. In February 2018 he ran at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on 59th place over 15 km freestyle, 31st place in the sprint and 12th place with the relay.
