The Raiffeisenbank eG, Simmerath is a regional cooperative bank based in Simmerath. It has offices in the communities of Simmerath , Roetgen , Monschau and Hürtgenwald .
history
The first credit cooperatives founded by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen in the 19th century, which were then called advance payment associations and savings and loan associations, were children of need. The extremely successful idea by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen was based on the words "help people to help themselves".
On December 24, 1925, farmers, craftsmen, merchants and small tradespeople founded the Rurberg eGmuH savings and loan fund . The oldest cooperatives in the area were the savings and loan offices in Strauch , Steckenborn and Eicherscheid . These were founded in 1896 and 1897. The Rollesbroich savings and loan fund followed in 1905, the Kalterherberg savings and loan fund in 1930 and the cattle disposal cooperative in Konzen in 1937 . As part of several mergers, these cooperatives were integrated into the Rurberg savings and loan association in the 1960s.
Until the late 1950s the business of were cooperatives of volunteer cashiers out. Tradition has it that most business was done on the Sunday after high mass. In 1958, Carl Jansen was employed as the first full-time managing director in Rurberg.
In 2002 the Raiffeisenbank Simmerath merged with the Raiffeisenbank Hürtgenwald eG.
