The Rail Care AG (proper spelling rail care AG ) is a Swiss railway company that operates in unaccompanied combined transport. It has been wholly owned by the Swiss retail group Coop since 2010 .

history

The company was founded on December 28, 2007 under the name tradeCare AG with its headquarters in Baden. The purpose of the company at that time was the import and export of food. On September 7th, 2009 the company was renamed to railCare AG , the headquarters relocated to Härkingen and the field of activity was converted into the operation of a railway company. railCare operates according to a fixed timetable in point-to-point unaccompanied combined transport (UCT). On September 1, 2010, Coop took over the entire share capital of railCare AG. Since then, the trains have mainly been used to transport the Group's own goods, but they are still open to third-party customers.

After operations began, two Re 420s were rented from SBB Cargo . RailCare AG rented five Bombardier TRAXX (series 186) from Railpool in December 2012 , after which they returned the Re 420 to SBB Cargo. In December 2013, BLS Cargo and railCare announced an exchange: The five 186 railCare vehicles are made available to BLS via Railpool, while railCare 4 Re 465 rents them out. RailCare is also allowed to use a Re 425 from BLS for traffic on the RhB three-rail track Chur-Ems Werk (11 kV alternating current) . The Re 465 then took over the paintwork and baptismal name of the 186. The following locomotives ran for railCare until the end of 2017:

  • Siemens Vectron in the Schafisheim hub
    Re 465 015-6 "Cat's Eye"
  • Re 465 016-4 "Black Pearl"
  • Re 465 017-2 "Pink Panther"
  • Transshipment from truck to rail wagon in the Bern hub
    Re 465 018-0 "Flash Fire"

At the end of 2017, the BLS machines were replaced with the Vectron ordered from Siemens in September 2016 . Delivered are:
