Rainer Beck (historian)

Rainer Beck (* 1950 ) is a German historian .

Life

In 1978 he obtained his Magister Artium in Bavarian History, Modern History and Economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1979 to 1982 he was a member of the DFG priority program "Change in family structures, gender and generation problems since the 18th century"; later the "Working Group for Family History" and the "Working Group Historical Anthropology". From 1984 to 1985 he was a freelancer for Bavarian radio / television. After receiving his doctorate in Modern History, Bavarian History and Economics in Munich in 1986 and his habilitation at the University of Salzburg in 1996, he taught from 1996 to 2006 as a private lecturer in Salzburg . From 2007 to 2008 he was the professor for modern history at the University of Konstanz . Since 2009 he has been a professor for early modern history in Konstanz .

His research interests are early modern rural society, microhistory, historical anthropology, witch research, and the history of ideas and discourse.
