Rainer Herold
Rainer Herold (born June 11, 1940 in Leipzig ) is a German painter , graphic artist and sculptor .
Life
After primary school, Rainer Herold completed an apprenticeship as a cartographic draftsman from 1955 and worked in this profession until 1961. 1961 to 1966 he studied at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig , especially with Bernhard Heisig . From 1971 to 1974 he was an aspirant there . From 1975 to 1977 Herold was a master student with Werner Klemke at the Academy of Arts of the GDR . Since 1985 he has been working freelance in Berlin and then in Pütte near Stralsund. In addition to painting, drawing, book illustration and printmaking, Herold also deals with plastic, object art and ceramics. He had a teaching position at the University of Greifswald . Herold went on study trips to what was then the Soviet Union, India, Tanzania and the Alps. His hobby is flying the paramotor over the lagoon landscape .
