Rainer Mang

Rainer Mang (born April 13, 1943 in Offenbach am Main , † July 8, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Rainer Mang did a construction apprenticeship from 1957 to 1960 and then until 1963 various internships in the fields of steel construction, carpentry and architecture. After two years of study trips to Europe, he was involved in the expansion of the ruins of Serusclat le Haut in southern France from 1965. From 1968 to 1976 he studied sculpture in Berlin ; 1968 at the Akademie für Werkkunst und Mode, since 1969 at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (since 1975: Hochschule der Künste, today: Universität der Künste Berlin ). There he became a master student with Shinkichi Tajiri . This was followed by a stay in the studio house in Worpswede in 1976 . In 1979 he founded the group and gallery 1/61 in Berlin with Frank Dörnseif , ter Hell , Elke Lixfeld , Reinhold Pods and Gerd Rohling .

Works by Rainer Mang can be found in the following public and private collections: Neue Nationalgalerie , Berlin; New Museum Weserburg , Bremen ; Museet for Samtidskunst, Roskilde (Denmark); Böckmann Collection.

As a full member of the German Association of Artists, Rainer Mang took part in five major annual DKB exhibitions between 1977 and 1989.
