Roberto Palacios (born December 28, 1972 in Lima ) is a former Peruvian soccer player and national record player for his country. His nickname is El Chorillano . He played in midfield .

National team

He made his debut in the Peruvian national team on November 24, 1992 against Ecuador. In 1993 he scored his first international goal in the World Cup qualifier against Argentina . In 1995 he wore the number 10 on his back for the first time . Since July 6, 2004 he has been the record player for his country. With his 106th international match, he surpassed Héctor Chumpitaz's record . He has played a total of 128 international matches so far, scoring 19 goals. His last international match to date was against Nigeria on May 23, 2012, after not having been used in the 2010 World Cup qualifier since the 3-1 defeat by Venezuela on September 9, 2009.

Club career

In 1991 he made his debut in the professional team of Sporting Cristal from his hometown Lima. He also scored his first goal in his first game. With Sporting Cristal he won the Peruvian championship four times (1991 and 1994-1996). In 1996 he left the club, but returned twice to Sporting Cristal. He also played for clubs in Mexico , Brazil , Colombia and Ecuador . He was suspended for 12 months in Ecuador in December 2007 following a fight between players from LDU Quito and Barcelona SC Guayaquil . After reducing the sentence, he moved to Sporting Cristal in June 2007.
