Rainer Poser (born May 14, 1941 in Torgau ) is a former German boxer .

Career

Rainer Poser was delegated to SC Dynamo Berlin due to his boxing perspectives as a junior . There he developed into an excellent boxer who, at a height of 1.64 meters, always started in the bantam weight, the weight class up to 54 kg body weight.

In 1961 he took second place in the GDR championship in this weight class by losing in the final against Robert Büchner from SC Dynamo Magdeburg . He was nevertheless used at the European Championships in Belgrade that year , but was defeated there against the experienced Swiss Fritz Chervet in the round of 16 on points and therefore only came in 9th place.

In 1962 he showed himself greatly improved in the championship of the protection and security organs of the then socialist countries in Łódź and reached the final battle in which he was defeated by 2: 3 judges' votes against Artur Olech from Poland .

In 1963, Rainer Poser won the GDR bantamweight championship for the first time with a victory over Horst Schlink from SC Traktor Schwerin . At the European Championships in Moscow he won over Ken Buchanan from Scotland and Mikhailo Milzew from Bulgaria and stood in the semifinals against what was then perhaps the best bantamweight boxer in the world, Oleg Grigoryevich Grigoryev from the USSR , against whom he lost on points. But he won an EM bronze medal .

With another victory over Horst Schlink, Rainer Poser was again GDR champion in 1964. He then prevailed in the elimination for a starting place in the all-German Olympic team against Günter Geisler from Rünthe in Westphalia and was therefore able to compete at the Olympic Games in Tokyo . In Tokyo he met his feared opponent Brunon Bendig from Poland in his first fight , against whom he had already lost in three international matches. Again he drew the shorter one against Bendig and was defeated by 2: 3 judges' votes on points.

In 1965 the European Championships took place in Berlin (East). Rainer Poser was there again in the bantamweight division. He won in the round of 16 over Montibeller from Austria by techn. KO in the 1st round, but lost to Niculae Giju from Romania in the quarterfinals and came in 5th place.

Following these championships, Rainer Poser was heavily criticized by association officials because he had not won any medals in Tokyo or Berlin. There should be an obligation to intensify the training and to ensure less distraction in the private sphere. He refused to sign this commitment and was banned from the national boxer team. But in 1966 he was able to start again as a "Dynamo" boxer in the GDR championship and secure his third championship title with a victory over Edwin Fielitz from ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder) .

Then he left the Schutz- u. Security organs and began studying at the DHfK in Leipzig . Without support and more or less on his own, he managed to become GDR featherweight champion two more times in 1967 and 1968. In 1967 he defeated Bernd Drgalla from SC Dynamo Berlin and in 1968 Kurt Bollow from SC Traktor Schwerin in the final. In the national team he was no longer accepted.
