Raivis Hščanovičs (born February 15, 1987 in Riga ) is a Latvian football player .

Career

Raivis Hščanovičs began his career in his hometown at Skonto Riga , where he played his first professional season at the age of 20. Under the then English coach Paul Ashworth , he came on four missions, two of which over 90 minutes. At Ashworth, the defender did not have enough playing time during his tenure. Only when the successful coach Aleksandrs Starkovs , who led the Latvian national football team to the 2004 European Championship in Portugal, took over the position of the record champions. In the 2009 season he came to 26 games, where he got five goals. At the end of the season Hščanovičs had to leave the club as the expiring contract was not extended due to a knee injury. After a trial at Lechia Gdańsk , he finally signed a contract with Toronto FC . At the Toronto club he signed a two-year contract plus an option for two more. In the first game for the Canadians against New England Revolution , which was lost 4-1, he met his former teammate at Skonto Edgaras Jankauskas . At the end of the season they separated again from Hščanovičs and four other players Gabe Gala , Martin Šarić and Maxim Usanov and Mista .

At the beginning of the 2011 season he returned to Latvia and signed with FK Jūrmala-VV . After the defender was used 20 times for FK Jūrmala-VV in the past 2011 Virslīga season, he moved to league rivals and current champions FK Ventspils in February 2012 .
