history
The place was first mentioned in 1260, during the time of the settlements of Tatar prisoners in the area. It was mentioned later in 1318 as Rabroth , 1325 as Rothembrot , 1346 to 1358 as Rokenbrot , 1396 as Rokbrot , 1419 as Rabbroth , 1470 as Rychbrot , 1529 as Rabroth and 1599 as Ra (j) brot . The name is probably of German origin ( Rothembrot > rye bread ), but the word end bread could with Polish Bród ( ford be connected).
During the first partition of Poland , Rajbrot came to the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).
In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rajbrot came to Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .
From 1975 to 1998 Rajbrot was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
