Rajmund Romuald Ziemski (born March 30, 1930 in Radom , † August 5, 2005 in Warsaw ) was a Polish painter and art college teacher.

Life

Ziemski studied from 1949 to 1955 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with Artur Nacht-Samborski . From 1958 he taught at the same art college until his retirement as a professor.

He made his exhibition debut in 1955 at the exhibition of young artists "Against the War - Against Fascism" in the Warsaw Arsenal . During the thaw mood of the "Polish October" , he joined the artists to Marian Bogusz and the Club of the Crooked wheel ( Club Krzywego Koła ) and exhibited in their gallery. His painting was initially figurative , showing landscapes, then his works became more and more metaphorical and abstract .

In 1979 he was awarded the Jan Cybis Art Prize. Posthumously the National Art Gallery Zachęta in Warsaw, which had shown him several times before, dedicated a solo exhibition “Landscape 1953-2005” to him.
