The Brest Raion ( Belarusian Брэсцкі раён Breszki rajon ; Брестский район Brestski rajon ) is an administrative unit in the west of the Breszkaja Woblasz in Belarus . The Rajon has an area of 1617 km² and is divided into a Passavet and 11 Selsavets . The administrative center is the city of Brest .
geography
The Brest Rajon is in the south-west of the country and the Breszkaja Woblasz. The neighboring rayons in Belarus are Kamyanets in the north, Shabinka in the east and Malaryta in the southeast . The entire western border of the Rajon runs along the Bug and the eastern border of Poland .

The administrative unit was formed on January 15, 1940 .
