Ralf Borngräber (born April 1961 in Rotenburg (Wümme) ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2008 to October 2017 - with an interruption from 2013 to 2016 - he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1980, Ralf Borngräber studied politics, work, economics and technology at the University of Oldenburg .

After successfully completing his studies, he worked as a teacher at elementary, secondary and secondary schools in Visselhövede , Berlin-Kreuzberg , Rotenburg (Wümme) and Sottrum . Since 2000 he has been rector of the Freudenthalstrasse orientation level in Rotenburg (Wümme). In 2004 he moved to the Lüneburg district government as school-related department head and, after the administrative reform, to the state school authority . He stayed there until his election to the Lower Saxony state parliament in 2008. After leaving the state parliament, Borngräber became didactic director of the Soltau high school in 2013 . He later moved to the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education as a consultant .

Politics and volunteering

Borngräber joined the SPD in 1977. From 1985 to 1987 he was district chairman of the Jusos in Rotenburg (Wümme). From 1991 to 2001 he was a lay judge at the Rotenburg District Court (Wümme) and the Verden District Court (Aller) . Borngräber was a member of the Rotenburg city council from 1991 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2013, and from 2011 to 2013 he was chairman of the council. Borngräber has been chairman of the SPD sub-district Rotenburg (Wümme) and a member of the district executive committee of the SPD in North Lower Saxony since 2004. Since 2006 he has been a member of the district council in Rotenburg (Wümme). Ralf Borngräber is a member of the GEW and the AWO .

In the state elections in 2008 and 2013 , Borngräber stood for the SPD in constituency 53 Rotenburg . He lost each time against Mechthild Ross-Luttmann (CDU). However, in 2008 he entered the state parliament via the state list; from 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the culture and petitions committee of the state parliament. In 2013, his list position was initially insufficient for a mandate; Borngräber only moved to the state parliament for Holger Heymann in November 2016 .
