Ralf Drescher

Ralf Drescher (born January 18, 1956 in Magdeburg ) is a former German politician ( Christian Democratic Union of Germany , CDU). From 2008 to 2011 he was district administrator of the district of Northern Pomerania , and from 2011 to 2018 district administrator of the district of Western Pomerania-Rügen, which was newly established in the course of the district reform in 2011 .

In 1990 Ralf Drescher, who was not politically active before the fall of the Wall, was elected Mayor of the Neuendorf community in Northern Pomerania . In 1993 he joined the CDU.

From 1994 to 2005 he was a member of the Nordvorpommern district council , and from 1996 to 2005 he was the CDU parliamentary group chairman. Since 1996 he has also been a member of the district executive committee of the CDU North Western Pomerania. From 1999 to 2005 he was elected full-time mayor of the Süderholz community.

In December 2005 he was elected as an alderman and first deputy of the district administrator of North Western Pomerania. In the election on April 13, 2008, he was elected to the district administrator of the district of North Western Pomerania with 65.2% of the vote; he took up the position on July 21, 2008. On September 4, 2011, he ran for the post of district administrator of the new district of Vorpommern-Rügen and achieved 42.5% of the votes in the first ballot. In the runoff election on September 18, 2011, he received 51.7% of the vote and thus prevailed against his competitor Kerstin Kassner (Die Linke).

In July 2017, Drescher announced that he would no longer run for the office of the district administrator of the Vorpommern-Rügen district in the next district election in 2018 for reasons of age. Drescher handed the official business over to his successor Stefan Kerth (SPD) on October 5, 2018 .

Ralf Drescher was a member of the board of directors of Sparkasse Vorpommern .

Ralf Drescher has been married since 1981 and has two sons. One son, Wotan Drescher, is also a CDU politician and elected chairman of the community council of the Süderholz community.
