Ralf Zimmermann von Siefart (Manager)

Ralf Zimmermann von Siefart (born August 8, 1925 in Landsberg an der Warthe ; † October 8, 2018 ) was a German manager of the fertilizer industry.

Life

Born the son of a farmer, Ralf Zimmermann von Siefart took part in the Second World War as a department adjutant in the 3rd Cavalry Division commanded by Georg Freiherr von Boeselager . After training as a farmer, he studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn Agriculture . In 1949 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . He was the first recipient of the Corps Borussia after its post-war reconstitution on June 11, 1949. He graduated with a degree in agriculture .

In 1952 Zimmermann von Siefart went into the German fertilizer industry. In 1959 he switched to NV Nederlandsche Kali-Import Maatschappij as a director in Amsterdam. In 1964 he returned to Germany and became managing director of the German Potash Sales Association (VDK) in Hanover. In 1971 he became head of sales at Kali und Salz GmbH. From 1972 until his retirement in 1990 he was a member of the first board member of Kali und Salz AG, where he was responsible for the sales department.

On May 2, 1969 he was appointed consul of the Netherlands in Hanover.

Even involved in Trakehner breeding, he was elected chairman of the German Horse Museum Association in 1987 and headed the association until 2000. He had a decisive influence on the design of the museum in its current form. He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Central Institute and Museum for Sepulchral Culture Foundation in Kassel and was a member of the Rotary Club Verden.

In its obituary dated October 15, 2018, K + S Aktiengesellschaft praised his leadership skills and his ability to inspire beyond borders, and called him a cosmopolitan with foresight.

Zimmermann von Siefarts' funeral took place on October 19, 2018 in the Ahlden cemetery .
