Luis Horacio Gómez González (born October 18, 1958 in Salaminas - Caldas , Manizales , Colombia ; †  April 17, 2016 in Manizales) was a Colombian clergyman and Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Gaitán .

Life

Luis Horacio Gómez González received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Manizales on November 30, 1991 . Until 2013 he worked as a parish chaplain in various parishes. In addition, he was pastor for the national educational service SENA ( Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje ) and as a professor at the seminary of Manizales. Since 2013 Gómez was Episcopal Vicar for the administration of the archdiocese.

On 10 July 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Liberalia and Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Gaitán . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Ettore Balestrero , on August 21 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Manizales , Gonzalo Restrepo Restrepo , and the Bishop of Líbano-Honda , José Miguel Gómez Rodríguez . The inauguration in Puerto Gaitán took place on September 10, 2014.

In 2015, Gómez suffered a stroke. Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on April 8, 2016 for health reasons. Nine days after his resignation, he succumbed to the consequences of his stroke.
