Ralph Färber (born August 30, 1971 in Leipzig ) is a former German swimmer. He was a member of the GDR national team and after the reunification part of the all-German national team. Before moving to the first Offenbach swimming club in 1991 , he started for the SC DHFK Leipzig .

Life

Ralph Färber attended the children's and youth sports school in Leipzig . After moving from Leipzig to Offenbach, he passed the Abitur at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Offenbach. After his subsequent training as a merchant of property and housing industry, he holds a degree in Sports Science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He wrote his master's thesis in 2001 on the subject of "strength training in swimming".

Today he works as a sports scientist at the Hesse Olympic Training Center in Frankfurt am Main. and has been the athletic trainer of the German Table Tennis Association since 2008 and looks after the German men's table tennis team. He has remained loyal to swimming as a personal trainer and looks after a.o. a. the professional triathlete Natascha Schmitt . In this context, he also presented tips for athletic training for swimmers in several videos and led various seminars at the sports school of the State Sports Association of Hesse in Frankfurt .

In addition, he regularly supports the Hessian Swimming Association with his regional trainer Benjamin Friedrich in cadre measures.

He lives and lives with his family in Wiesbaden .

Athletic career

In addition to titles at junior European championships, GDR championships and German championships, he was placed at European and world championships. He achieved victories and top placements in World Cups and other international competitions.

At the last GDR championships in Dresden in 1990, he was the last GDR champion over the 100 m chest . In the same year he became the first German champion over 100 m breaststroke at the first all-German championships in Munich.
