Controversy

In February 2019, a reprimand was issued against Müller in the state parliament. In a speech on the subject of “Winter feeding of wild animals”, Müller said: “These gun and safe controls are elements of a totalitarian state. And they go well with your Stasi and snooping chancellor ”. The President of the State Parliament, Ilse Aigner, assessed the statements as "untruthful, defamatory and insulting and not conducive to the reputation of our House". It was the first reprimand in the Bavarian state parliament in 25 years.

On June 26, 2019, Ralph Müller attracted media attention during the mourning minute in the Bavarian state parliament for the CDU politician Walter Lübcke , who was killed by a right-wing extremist , when he was the only MdL to remain seated. Müller only got up when, in the roughly two-and-a-half-minute speech by Landtag President Ilse Aigner ( CSU ), another deceased former MP was remembered. Müller himself could not see any guilt “in the behavior”, because the fact that he stayed “a few seconds” was because he had just revised a planned speech. Only after multiple criticism from all the parties represented in the state parliament - also the AfD MP Franz Bergmüller had accused him of having "badly harmed" the parliamentary group - did Müller "expressly" apologize for his behavior.
