Ralph John Regenvanu (born September 20, 1970 in Suva , Fiji ) is a Vanuatu politician of the Land and Justice Party GJP (Graon mo Jastis Party) , who has been Foreign Minister since 2017.

Life

Regenvanu is a son of the Presbyterian clergyman and politician Sethy John Regenvanu , who was a member of parliament between 1980 and 1998 , was a minister several times and was a minister in September 2014. He grew up on the island of Malakula and, after attending school in 1986, began studying development research and anthropology at the Australian National University (ANU), which he completed in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). During his subsequent tenure as curator of the National Museum of Vanuatu from 1991 to 1995 , he was one of the founding members of the Pacific Islands Museums Association (PIMA) in 1994 , before he was director of the Vanuatu Cultural Center between 1995 and 2006 .

In 2008 Regenvanu was elected member of parliament for the Land and Justice Party GJP (Graon mo Jastis Party) for the first time and has since represented the constituency of Port Vila . On December 2, 2010, he assumed his first ministerial post as Minister for Economic Development in the first government of Prime Minister Sato Kilman , which he held until February 18, 2011. Following a government reshuffle, he served as Minister of Lands, Geology, Mining and Rural Water between February 17 and March 10, 2011, and was subsequently appointed Minister of Justice and Social Welfare on March 10, 2011 in a new government reshuffle he held this office until April 24, 2011. After Kilman formed his third government as Prime Minister on June 26, 2011, Regenvanu took over the office of Minister for Justice and Community Services and held this until January 16, 2012.

Regenvanu was appointed Minister of Land, Geology, Mining, Energy and Water Resources in the government of Prime Minister Moana Carcasses Kalosil on March 23, 2013 and held this post from May 15, 2014 to June 11, 2015 in the following government Prime Minister Joe Natuman . In the government of Prime Minister Charlot Salwai formed on February 11, 2016 , he initially took over the office of Minister for Land, Geology, Mining, Energy and Water Resources and then, after a cabinet reshuffle, on December 19, 2017, from Bruno Leingkone, the office of Foreign Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade.
