Ramona is the name of a novel by the American writer Helen Hunt Jackson . The work on the discrimination of Indians, published in 1884, is particularly popular in southern California , the area of the plot, and was made into four films in Hollywood alone (1910, 1916, 1928 and 1936; a fifth was made in Mexico in 1946), but of which only the 1928 version by director Edwin Carewe was shown in German cinemas.
