Rashean Jamil Mathis (* 27. August 1980 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is a former American American football poker players to position the cornerbacks . He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL) for twelve years . He also played for the Detroit Lions for three years .

Early years

Mathis went to high school in Jacksonville. He later attended Bethune-Cookman University .

NFL

Jacksonville Jaguars

Mathis was selected 39th in the second round of the 2003 NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars . On July 24, 2003, he signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars. First he started as safety . From 2004 he was used as a cornerback . In 2006 he was elected to the Pro Bowl for the first and only time . In 2005 Mathis received a five-year contract with the Jaguars. In 2012 he received a one-year contract with the Jaguars.

For the 25th anniversary of the Jaguars in 2019, Mathis was voted 8th of the 25 best Jaguars players ( Jaguars All-25 ).

Detroit Lions

For the 2013 season , he signed a working paper with the Detroit Lions . He stayed here for three years. On February 16, 2016 Mathis announced the end of his career.
