Rasmus Botoft

Rasmus Botoft (born January 5, 1972 on the island of Amager , Copenhagen ) is a Danish actor .

Life

Botoft was born as the son of the art educator and curator Helge Botoft and his wife, the teacher Mette Gudrun Ehlers. Rasmus Botoft studied from 1995 to 1999 at the Theater School (Skuespillerskolen) of the Aarhus Theater , where he also completed his acting training in 1999. He had his first theater engagements at Team Teatret (1999; in Jeppe ) and at the Aarhus Teater (1999; in Hvor var vi lykkelige and Fantomsmerter ). In 2000 he appeared at Nørrebro Teater in Copenhagen and at Suzuki Teatret in Frederiksberg . In 2003 he founded his own theater, the Teatret Marianne, together with the actor and screenwriter Martin Buch .

From the 2002/03 season to 2007 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Royal Danish Theater in Copenhagen . There he played a wide and varied stage repertoire. His stage roles at the Royal Danish Theater included Ferdinand in Kabale und Liebe (2003), the clerk Jepichodow in Der Kirschgarten , the title role in The Great Day or Figaro's Wedding and Borgheim in Klein Eyolf by Henrik Ibsen . In 2003 he also appeared with the Royal Danish Theater as Robin Hood in Ivanhoe at the Freichtlichtspiele in Ulvedalene . In the 2008/09 season he played Achilles in the play Ifigenia (director: Kasper Holten ) at the Royal Danish Theater . He had other theater engagements at the Bellevue Theater in Copenhagen (2010–2011; with Rytteriet Live ) and at the Musikhuset Aarhus (2012; with Rytteriet Live ). He also undertook theater tours through Denmark in 2012 with the play Melodie des Todes (original title: Mordets melodi ) and in the 2014/2015 season (with Rytteriet Live 2 ).

In Denmark Botoft was primarily for his participation in the by Danmarks Radio broadcast satirical programs Dusk above Bomholt and Er du skat skidt? (2004) known. Together with Martin Buch, he took part in the satirical radio program Rytteriet, which was broadcast on DR P2 . Buch and Botoft later performed very successfully with Rytteriet at live shows in Copenhagen's Bellevue Theater and together they developed their own satirical television show from the radio format.

Botoft has appeared in several Danish films. These include the short film Om natten (2007) and the feature films Kleiner Soldat (2008), Alting bliver godt igen (2010), The Truth About Men (2010, as Jonas) and Mercy (2013; as Tage Baggesen). On Danish television he was initially seen in small roles in the television series Der Adler - Die Spur des Verbrechens (2004) and Forestillinger (2007; as minister of education). This was later followed by series roles in Isa's stepz (2008-2010; as Christian Zwimmel, the father of the teenager Isabella), Protectors - Auf Leben und Tod (2009-2010; as "opinion maker" Wiljhelm), Den 2. side (2010; as Steen Fischer ), Lykke (2011–2012; as accountant Claus Hornbek and ex-husband of the series character Charlotte) and Die Erbschaft (2015; as Martin Dahl).

In October 2016, Botoft was seen alongside Sandra Borgmann in the male lead in the “ZDF Herzkino” film A Summer in Denmark . He played the Danish geocacher , bon vivant and Karen Blixen expert Mads Søborg. Botoft, who speaks fluent English and German in addition to his native Danish, spoke his role himself in German without dubbing.

In 2011 Botoft took part in a commercial for the Danish bank Nykredit , in which he played an Indian hypnotist.

In September 2010, Botoft married the Danish actress Lisbeth Wulff in the Vartov Kirke in Copenhagen . The couple live in Copenhagen.
