Town hall in Teuschnitz

The Town Hall Teuschnitz is the central administrative building of the north of the Upper Franconian district Kronach town of Teuschnitz and seat of the administrative community Teuschnitz .

history

As early as 1390, when Teuschnitz was granted city rights by Bamberg's Prince-Bishop Lamprecht von Brunn, the town must have had a town hall. However, there have been no reports of its construction and location. The first evidence of the existence of a town hall comes from the time of the Thirty Years War , when the former council building was affected by several fires.

Today's town hall was built between 1850 and 1867 according to plans by master joiner Johann Greser. From 1976 to 1979 it was completely renovated together with the adjoining former school in order to prepare the two buildings for their new function as the headquarters of the Teuschnitz administrative association founded on May 1, 1978. The market square in front of the town hall was redesigned in 1985/86 as part of the urban development program .

description

The most striking feature of the two-storey side eaves building is a square turret on the gable with a clock tower and arched sound windows . The coat of arms of the town of Teuschnitz is affixed to the front below the sound window.
